In most industrial countries, tap water is of good quality, but many people believe that bottled water is healthier and tastes better. It is estimated that over 22 billion bottles of water end up in landfill sites every year. It's a global problem that has significant negative effects on the environment.
How it works
By placing the charcoal at the bottom of the 650ml water bottle, the water remains in contact with the charcoal, which absorbs it from its tiny pores to effectively purify the water.
The benefits of Binchotan activated charcoal
- In its natural state, binchotan purifies water by absorbing chlorine and other odours from tap water, while releasing natural minerals over a period of six months.
- It balances the pH, considerably improving the taste of the water.
Because it is natural, Binchotan offers many advantages over other water filter bottles that use granulated charcoal enclosed in plastic containers. Binchotan charcoal is in its natural state, is more durable and can be recycled in a number of ways.
Why the Eau Good glass bottle?
Each binchotan charcoal can be used for six months* (and thereafter for secondary uses).
Replacement charcoal is available on the black+blum website.
More economical than buying commercial water bottles

Use and maintenance
Binchotan charcoal is washed before being used in your good water. We recommend that you wash your good water after use and only use tap water, never boiling water. Only use your good water with tap water that is "drinkable".
After three months, "recharge" the charcoal by simply removing it from the bottle and boiling it for 10 minutes. This procedure extends the active functions of the charcoal for a further three months*.
(*use time will vary depending on usage and water quality).
Replace the binchotan filter after six months and use it in one of the following ways:
- To absorb unpleasant odours in the fridge, a sock drawer or even the cat's litter!
- By returning it to the environment, spraying it around plants to add minerals to the soil;
- As a humidifier after a hot shower in winter;
- By incorporating it into the kitchen to improve the taste of food;
- If you're feeling extra creative, making a mobile wind chime;
- And, of course, burning it.
