Lorena Canals is a Spanish brand specialising in rugs and textiles for the home. Founded in 1990 by Lorena Canals, the brand stands out for its commitment to sustainability, quality and safety. It is a family business, with her two daughters and her husband working together.
One of the most outstanding features of the Lorena Canals brand is its collection of machine-washable rugs. These rugs are handmade from natural materials such as cotton and are designed to be practical and easy to care for. They are also certified free from harmful chemicals, making them safe for babies and children.
The idea for the washable carpet came to the founder when she watched her children playing on a carpet more than 20 years ago. She thought it would be very practical to be able to wash her own carpets (really!), and as she couldn't find any on the market, she decided to create her own!
A committed brand
The brand has created a collection of RugCycled® products that aim to give a second life to the cotton scraps from their productions. This "rugcycled" range is growing and the company is moving towards zero waste by introducing new recycled fabrics such as recycled PET and GRS-certified recycled polyester padding to design our new baskets, toys and playmats.
The latest autumn collection: Mushroom
The Mushroom collection is beautifully autumnal, soft, with natural tones and shapes inspired by nature. It's a real marvel!
There are washable rugs, of course, but also poufs and cushions to die for.
I particularly like the Boletus rug, shaped like two mushrooms. Admire the detail and the quality. Rows of slightly longer tufts of fabric and braids added at the bottom add extra charm to this lovely rug by representing the mycelium filaments of the mushroom.
The soft, fluffy hedgehog floor cushion in natural colours is sure to delight children! It has little paws and ears in light brown fabric with pompoms for the eyes and nose. A playmate to ride, use as a cushion or decorate.
But what about the incredible Mushroom Forest washable play mat? Rectangular, inspired by an autumn forest full of moss and ferns, where mushrooms hide under dead leaves, it's full of handmade details in canvas and chenille in autumn colours such as Olive green, Honey and golden brown. Its original texture, pretty little cotton basket and 9 handmade chanterelles make it a unique, high-quality piece.
All the items in the Mushroom collection match, as you can see from the photos. You can combine the beautiful Boletus footstool (also removable and washable) with the chestnut cloud cushion rug, or the chestnut mini Dots rugs (you'll have to choose between the round and rectangular ones).
And if you need to hide plaids or toys cleverly and aesthetically, then here's my super favourite: the giant Mushroom basket.
The basket is slightly curved, made from rope woven from yarn from recycled PET bottles combined with cotton, and has decorative fringes (representing the mushroom ring). The top of the basket is a cushion made from soft cotton canvas in a natural, light brown colour with decorative stitching that simulates the 'hat' of a mushroom. At 45 cm high, it's the only thing missing from your autumn decor!
We invite you to come and discover these marvels in shop, especially during a great event on Saturday 14 October. On the programme: a mushroom colouring competition, a mushroom hunt in the Kids corner, surprises, a carpet to win and 10% off this collection and all orders placed that day. I'll be there to share the moment with you!
See you soon!
